Introducing the team.........

Frances West

Physiotherapist

Frances, Merian, Aisling
Frances West set up the physiotherapy practice in 1992, moving into the current premises in 1998. Frances has worked for many years in private practice and is happy treating a wide range of conditions from sports injuries to back pain and rehabilitation after surgery.

Over the last 10 years Frances has done a lot of work with ladies who have had breast cancer and following surgery or reconstruction are having pain and limitations in movement. More recently Frances has found that her physiotherapy skills are in demand in the Motorbike racing world. Her son, Sam, competes in British Superstock Bike racing and word has spread that his mum is a physio! Water Lane Physio can now be seen in Motorbike racing
paddocks around the UK and even in Portugal! Away from the clinic and race circuits Frances can be found on the golf course or training for the Great Outdoor Swims.

Jon Sutton

Physiotherapist

Jon Sutton qualified in 2004 from Oxford Brookes University and returned back to Northern roots later in that year. He has been working in and around Macclesfield since and began working at Water Lane Clinic in 2007.

Jon’s work is a mixture of Neurophysiotherapy and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy. At the hospital he works during the day in neurology and twice a week here at the clinic in Wilmslow. As a result the mixture seems to benefit both areas of his work and crosses over in many ways.

Jon is easily identified in the clinic – he is the one who wears shorts nearly all year round!

Merian Denning

Physiotherapist

Merian qualified from Guy’s Hospital, London in 1980. She worked in Oxford, London and Switzerland before specialising in orthopaedics at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, Middlesex. Following a 3 year career break while her husband pursued a post-graduate fellowship in Stanford, California she returned to the UK (with 2 babies!) and resumed her physiotherapy career by becoming part of the rehabilitation team at The Christie Hospital, Manchester. There she became a specialist physiotherapist in musculoskeletal tumours and pain management until 2006. She has worked part time at Water Lane Clinic since 2005.

In 2009 Merian completed an MSc in Acupuncture at Coventry University and is currently Chair of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

She is married with 3 boys and loves to ski, cycle and travel.
