My name is Michael Fraser, although I am known as Mike or by my surname Fraser to most people and to some clients in the clinic #stronghands on Twitter. I am a qualified ITEC Level IV Sport Massage Therapist specialising in deep and soft tissue massage. My areas of specialism include Football, Rugby (Union & League), Swimming & Athletics (across Paralympic disciplines), Cycling and Martial Arts (Shotokan Karate & Mixed Martial Arts). I also have extensive knowledge of non-sports related deep tissue treatments involving office and manual workers, helping to increase range of motion, reduce muscle tightness, improving joint stability through to core strengthening techniques.
After graduating from the University of Luton, I became a Fitness Instructor, delivering a wide range of classes ranging from Army Bootcamp, Circuit Training, Schwinn Spinning as well as Personal Training. Now, I am also assisting as a Strength & Conditioning Coach with the University of Manchester working with a variety of individuals and teams to improve performance levels and reduce the risk of injury through correct technique, biomechanics and load principles.
In my spare time I volunteer for the sports charity “English Federation of Disability Sport” (@Eng_Dis_Sport) and get the opportunity to work with the country’s top elite Paralympic athletes in preparation for events across Athletics and Swimming. These have included events across grass roots levels to National and International Paralympic Trials as well as the London Wheelchair Marathon.
I am also one part of the dynamic duo known as #Teamheadband alongside resident physio Dom Hallam and can be followed on Twitter via @SportMassageMCR where my thoughts are my own. For more details, please contact @waterlanephysio direct to check my availability and to avoid disappointment.
